EKA designs has launched a field ready GPS Camera in India.

This camera can be used in a variety of environments to tag the locational coordinates on to the picture. This includes the altitude and the date/time.

The GPS receiver SE-1 is built around the RICOH 500 SE digital camera. It is a field ready, 8 MP, wireless and Bluetooth enabled digital camera. Users can uniquely tag memos to the pictures taken right on the camera display unit.

The Ricoh camera is dust, rain and water proof. Another variant of the field ready camera is the SE-3. This camera can also determine the direction from which the photograph was taken. With the help of this camera, users can take pictures with the description of latitude and longitude.

Additionally, they can be loaded onto the computer and linked to popular mapping software like Google Earth. It is therefore a useful device in a number of critical applications such as drawing boundaries, analyzing pictures of natural disasters, etc.
