Tata Motors has unveiled the electric Indica and electric commercial vehicle Ace.

The company has mentioned that the electric Indica will be launched in Norway next year.

"Norway has the necessary infrastructure in place to run electric cars which India lacks," said Ravi Kant, President, Tata Motors.

The electric Indica sports two battery packs.  The battery takes about 8 hours to charge. On a full charge, the car runs for around 175-180 kms.

The company has mentioned that it could take another two years to launch the electric Indica locally.

Tata Motors is India's largest automobile company, with revenues of US$ 8.8 billion in Fiscal Year 2007. With over 4 million Tata vehicles plying in India, it is the leader in commercial vehicles and among the top three in passenger vehicles.

It is also the world's fourth largest truck manufacturer and the second largest bus manufacturer. Tata cars, buses and trucks are being marketed in several countries in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, South Asia, South East Asia and South America.
