Nissan intends to sell at least 2 lakh cars in India by 2012

India's Biggest Car Marketplace - Buy / Sell Cars Online - Find Reviews and Users CommentJapanese Automobile manufacturer Nissan has announced that it intends to sell at least 2 lakh cars in India by the year 2012.

Additionally, it is also planning to manufacture 9 new models at its Chennai plant. This plant will become operational by 2010.

Out of these 9 models, five models will be meant for Indian markets. Nissan mentioned: “India is a very important market for us and we have been focusing on how to localize the products and bring more models in the market.

We have a five-year mid-term plan under which we expect to sell about 200,000 units in India by 2012.”

Other than Nissan, Volkswagen, GM, Renault, and other car makers have grand plans for India in the years to come. Currently, Nissan is constructing a manufacturing plant with a joint venture with its French parent company Renault.
