Price cuts not likely in 2-wheeler industry

Owing to smaller margins of about 4-5 per cent, the two wheeler industry is not going to see any price cuts. Despite requests by Mr. Chidambaram to cut down the price of car and two-wheelers, it is unlikely to happen. Mr. Bajaj said price reduction was not the only solution and the main issue of credit availability to consumers still remains unaddressed.

Mr. Bajaj said that banks need to cut interest rate for customers so that they can make new purchases and this is the only way to promote sales. Mr Bajaj also blamed public and private sectors for not lending to potential Two –wheeler buyers.
