Greenpeace Int'l applauds Samsung F268 & names it eco-friendly mobile

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd announced that F268 handset has been named as the "Greenest Mobile Phone" by a leading Greenpeace International, a leading environmental campaigning organization.

 

The victory was unveiled by Greenpeace's 'Green Electronics: The search continues report. The report acknowledged the commendable efforts that Samsung has put in, to develop more renewable and eco-friendly materials.

 

The greenest phone in the market Samsung F268 saw competition in Motorola V9, the Nokia 3110 Evolve, the Sony Ericsson C905 and the LG KT520 in the handset category. The Samsung F268 is a brominated flame retardant (BFR) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) free mobile phone. It is free of these pollutants in the device as well as the accessories.

 

Besides this, Samsung F268 has an alarm function that signals users to unplug their charger when the device is fully charged, thereby helping in energy conservation. It fully compiles with the energy-efficiency guidelines established by the US Environmental Protection Agency and the US Department of Energy.

 

Samsung is optimistic of the future and is hoping to build on this success. Samsung will strive to make more products as green as possible and will also consider options to recycle used mobile phones.
