Audi, together with Volkswagen Group management, has decided that the Audi Q3 will be manufactured at the SEAT factory in Martorell.
This decision comes on the back of the great strides SEAT has made in the past few years in terms of quality and cost containment. Likewise, SEAT employees themselves, thanks to their decision in the consultation carried out last month, have also made a highly positive contribution to this achievement.
“We are overjoyed to be able to keep up the good relations we have enjoyed over the past few years with Audi, and we will continue to nurture that relationship in the future with the manufacture of the brand’s new model in our production plant” said SEAT Chairman Eric Schmitt.
By manufacturing the new Audi A_SUV, SEAT will be able to guarantee at least 1,200 jobs at the plant, as well as generate an important knock-on effect in the Spanish car component industry. This decision provides clear proof of the confidence the VW Group has in the SEAT brand.
This new development shows SEAT’s unequivocally positive reaction to the current downward trend in the Spanish automobile industry by maintaining and creating jobs. It is the first step in the restructuring of SEAT, which still has a lot of hard work ahead in order the reach the aims it has set itself – to guarantee future sustainability, and fulfil the expectations the German car manufacturer has of it.
