In view of high market demand, Tata Motors has decided to manufacture a sizeable proportion of its top-end variant - the Nano LX variant (ex-showroom price is above Rs. 170,000).

Presently, the company produces all the three variants of the car - Standard Nano CX and Nano LX - in equal numbers.

But now, India’s largest vehicle maker will be realigning its production as out of the 2.03 lakh bookings, almost 50 per cent of them account for Nano's top-end variant LX.

Customers booking for Tata Nano Standard account for 20 per cent, while 30 per cent opt for Nano CX. At present, 70 cars are produced at the facility per day. Tata Nano is currently manufactured at the company's Pantnagar plant in Uttarakhand, which has a yearly capacity of 50,000 cars. It can be ramped up to 90,000 units per annum.

It is to be mentioned here that Tata Motors has already announced that on 23rd March,  the first 100,000 allottees from among the applicants will be chosen through a computerised random selection procedure, and the announcement will be made within 60 days of closure of the booking.

Deliveries will start in July 2009, and are expected to be completed in the last quarter of 2010.
