Chronograph watches featuring various functions to measure time, are successful with connoisseurs. Inspired by their immense popularity, luxury-watch makers have launched striking collections for die-hard chronograph fans!

Omega, the fastest selling watch brand of the Swatch Group, has an array of fascinating chronograph timepieces. One of the unique watches is the Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch Apollo 11 ‘40th Anniversary’ Limited Edition in Platinum which celebrates ‘40 years of Moonlanding’.

The collection of the stainless steel limited edition timepieces showcase a black dial with the small seconds counter (sub-dial) featuring an adaptation of Apollo 11’s famous mission patch namely an eagle descending to the lunar surface with an olive branch representing peace in its claws.

In addition to that, a platinum version of the same watch has also been released in 69 pieces. While the case body, screw and pin bracelet are made of platinum; the medallion on the small seconds counter is made of 18 carat yellow gold, the hour and minute hands as well as the 30 minute and 12 hour counter hands are made of platinum. Delivered in a striking wooden case with elegant ornamental marquetry, the platinum speedmaster Professional Moonwatch Apollo 11 is exquisite in design.

In the Geneva-based luxury brand de Grisogono’s collection, a combination of style and function will entice the consumer. The Power Breaker, for instance, flaunts an unusual four-piece construction: bezel, frame, back and crown guard. The styling is inspired from Formula 1 racing aesthetics. The Power S03 watch in white gold, bezel and crown protection set with 180 white diamonds showcases a two-level chronograph dial with two counters. The hour and minute hands are designed in rhodium with a painted red centre while the counters and the big second one is in black with a red tip.

Equally striking is the Power NO5, a watch in pink gold and matt tanned pink gold. This one too shows a two-level chronograph dial with the integrated push buttons at 2 and 4 o’ clock in matt tanned pink gold. Other options too are available to suit your tastes. Swiss luxury watch brand Harry Winston has some skillfully designed models.

The Ocean Chrono from the luxury watch maker holds a mechanical, self-winding movement that indicates the chronograph functions by three retrograde pointer-type displays: chronograph seconds at 6 o’clock, 30-minute counter at 4 o’clock and a 12-hour counter at 8 o’clock! The hours and minutes are off-centred at 12 o’clock. The push-buttons discreetly emerge from the side of the case, around the crown, bestowing a natural elegance to this watch.
