TVS Motor to Have 3 New Launches

In order to improve its footprint in the domestic market, TVS Motor Co. has announced an array of launches for the next few years. The new launches include Apache RTR 180 by May 2009, followed by TVS Sport, a new edition of its Star Sport, and a new TVS Flame. The company had launched a new edition of the Apache 160 RTR Fi. According to reports, TVS also plans to launch a 200cc edition of Apache with ABS, in the future.

The TVS Apache RTR 180 Menace will be powered by a fuel injection system, which will generate 17.3bhp of power and 16.5 Nm of torque and will come with high tech features including digital speedo (which indicates the top speed achieved), u can check the time taken to reach from 0-60 kmph and other features. The Apache RTR 180 is likely to come with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS). The sporty motorcycle will retain the sporty naked look of the TVS Apache 160 RTR Fi motorcycle. The front portion of the TVS Apache RTR 180 Menace will have a semi-full faring that will reveal part of the engine adding to the naked look of the bike. A bigger RTR sticker on the tank scoops, unlike the TVS Apache 160 RTR Fi, and a wider 110/80-17 rear tyre will be the new improved features. The motorcycle is expected to have a higher compression ratio than the Apache 160 RTR Fi. It is estimated to be priced between Rs. 70,000 – Rs. 100,000.

As per reports from the Live Mint, India’s third largest two-wheeler maker will also re-launch its Flame motorcycle in a new avatar. It will be equipped with a more refined engine. Flame will be the only 125cc bike in its portfolio, and TVS Motors hopes to initially sell 7,000 units of it a month. It then plans to ramp us the sales to 10,000 units a month by December. The firm also said it is discontinuing its first indigenous brand, Victor, at least in the domestic market.
