The first glimpse of the Sony X-series OLED Walkman is definitely impressive with a OLED touchscreen display and integrated noise cancellation technology. The quality is fantastic with brilliant and attractive colours. OLED technology also consumes less battery power than an LCD screen. It offers up to nine hours of battery life, which is around three hours more than the iPod Touch.
Though iPod has a definite hold on the portable media players market, the X-Series is powerful enough to shake up the iPod-centric world. Rather than emulating the iPod/iTunes model like the Microsoft Zune, it offers an out of the world Slacker Radio. Users can select upto three stations. Moreover, hundreds of songs can be pushed to your device without any charge. Also, the built in Wi-Fi refreshes your content automatically.
The 16 and 32 GB models cost $299 and $399 respectively, which are priced the same as Apple's iPod Touch models. However, Sony does not offer an 8 GB model, which Apple does. The debut of Sony X-Series Walkman is expected in mid-June.
