The Z-series from HP are a step forward in the basic workstations series. The three Z-series models Z800, Z600 and Z400, which are an amalgamation of over 20 HP designs, offer features like the self-checking power-supply mechanism and the latest Intel Xeon processor. The overall performance of the workstations is thus enhanced by 3 to 5 times.

Designed to serve the challenging and ever-changing needs of the customers, these workstations possess a sleek industrial design along with brushed aluminum side panels, tool-less access chassis, integrated handles and cable-less engineering. They incorporate the latest standards for energy efficiency, service and lesser acoustics.

According to Anurag Gupta, Country Manager - Workstations, Personal Systems Group, HP India, “The new Z Workstations series is the newest addition, which facilitates easy serviceability at the fingertip, from the power supply to the motherboard,” He further mentioned that “Studies have shown that an HP Z Workstation pays for itself in a surprisingly short period with its performance and productivity gains.”

These workstations include the Intel Xeon processor 5500 series that come incorporated with modern day features like memory controllers, Intel Turbo Boost Technology, professional graphics; high definition audio and solid-state drives. Also included are DASH Management Technology that utilizes hardware and software stock features to deliver precise responses, and a unique WattSaver feature that handles power management in the off state. HP claims that the workstations offer 85 percent efficiency in power supply. This is provided by reducing heat release and energy usage.

The Z800 provides enhanced solutions for features like 3-D animation, broadcast video, medical imaging and other such applications. Also, the Intel QuickPath Technology delivers an advanced input/output performance for any application. A liquid cooling option is also provided.

The Z600 is optimized for high performance delivery in a compressed size. HP claims that is best suited for applications like video production, finance and midrange CAD. With the capability of supporting up to eight displays, it features HP Vision Field Diagnostics for capturing system configuration data for sharing it with the IT department.

The HP Z400 is the best companion for those into video editing, photography, design and engineering. As the first ever single socket workstation, it features the Next-Generation Intel Microarchitecture (Nehalem) and liquid-cooling option. Currently, there is no specific word on the prices of these systems.
