Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M Ltd.), a part of the US $6.3 billion Mahindra Group, today announced Mahindra’s domestic volumes for the month of May 2009 stand at 16581 units, as against 19296 units in May 2008.

“In spite of the recent shut down at our Nashik plant, we clocked very impressive sales numbers of 16581 units in May 2009, reflecting a very positive and healthy demand for our products. We do not expect the strike to have any impact on our annual plan. Moreover, a lot of the loss of production due to the strike will be made good by the cancellation of the scheduled block maintenance closure which was planned between June 1 to June 6, 2009,” said Mr. Rajesh Jejurikar, Chief of Operations, Automotive Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.

Mahindra’s YTD domestic sales stand at 39198 units in May 2009, as against 38688 units for the same period last year. The company’s YTD sales (Domestic + Exports) stand at 39870 units in May 2009, as against 40683 units for the same period last year. The company sold a total of 16866 vehicles (Domestic + Exports) in May 2009, as against 20653 vehicles sold in May 2008.
