Toyota Motor Corporation has recently launched the revamped version of its Camry Hybrid in Thailand, which would be hitting the country’s showrooms shortly. Akin to the older version, the refreshed version would be rolled out from Toyota Motor Thailand’s Gateway Plant.
The Japanese automaker will be launching the Camry Hybrid in other countries in the ASEAN region, including India.
India and Thailand have a free trade agreement (FTA) the Camry Hybrid may actually be quite reasonably priced if it’s launched in India, as revealed by auto industry sources requesting anonymity.
According to Mitsuhiro Sonoda, president, Toyota Motor Thailand, the Camry Hybrid is likely to be priced quite closely to exiting petrol-powered Camry models in Thailand, predicting a premium of not more than 100,000 Thai baht owing to the fact that the Camry Hybrid is subject to an excise duty of only 10 per cent instead of 35 per cent in Thailand.
