Corolla Altis with 2.0 L Diesel Power in India by 2010-11

Toyota Motor Thailand Company Limited has now launched the new Corolla Altis 2.0L powered by a 2,000cc Dual VVT-i which comes with excellent performance, full comfort and convenience equipment list, matching those offered in luxury cars.

According to sources, Toyota’s Indian arm-Toyota Kirloskar Motors-is also planning to roll out the same car in the country. The car manufacturer has sensed that diesel luxury saloons are gaining immense popularity in the Indian car market because these cars offer enhanced power, performance, and fuel-efficiency. The diesel version of 'Corolla Altis' would be available in the Indian showrooms by mid-2010-11. Toyota Kirloskar sold 40,000 units of Corolla in the last five years and now intends to sell around 15,000-20,000 units of Corolla Altis per year.

Wichien Emprasertsuk, senior vice-president of Toyota Motor Thailand Co Ltd, said, “The new Corolla Altis 2.0L is introduced with the intention to strengthen the Corolla Altis model to be more competitiveness and to maintain its leadership in passenger car market as well as to be another alternative for our customer."

"The outstanding points of this new Corolla Altis 2.0L are the new aerodynamic and the new engine 3ZR-FE Dual VVT-i which is the first time of Corolla Altis to use this engine as same as Camry 3.5L. Moreover, this new Corolla Altis is featuring with new advanced technology such as the Super ECT 4-speed gate-type automatic transmission with sequential mode and paddle shift, especially in 2.0V Navigator model that we add the accept/hang-up buttons for the mobile phone in order to be more comfort and more safety in driving, In-Car Navigator, Rear View Camera, HID headlamps with auto-leveling, Push Start Button, Smart Entry System and etc."
