Brand loyalty is a cash for them and how? Leading watch makers like Tag Heuer, Christian Dior, Omega, Calvin Klein and Fossil are indulging into luxury accessories business in India. 

Tag Heuer, a Swiss watch brand has recently launched its cell phone collection, and also introduced accessories like wallets, visiting card holders, and cufflinks. Christian Dior, French designer brand is also not far behind the queue. An ultra-premium cell phone range is on the cards soon in India. Leather accessories line is being introduced by the Swiss watch maker Omega while Calvin will be launching its jewellery range soon in India. Recently, American watch maker Fossil also brought in its leather accessories and sunglasses

The luxury accessory market is flowing at around Rs 200 crore as per industry estimates. It includes international brands primarily. Apart from this, even Indian designers and several Indian brands are there that have a presence in middle-level accessories. There is an estimate of 20-30% growth rate in the men’s accessory market.

Truly speaking, most of these brands are targeting men as their core customers. “We have a strong presence in the men’s market. Our core target group is men. Tag Heuer’s diversification into lifestyle accessories and cell phones has been done keeping in mind the brand DNA. They com-plement the watch business perfectly and take forward the interaction of the brand with the consumer” said Manishi Sanwal, GM, Jewellery and Watches, LVMH India. The starting price of the cell phone is Rs 2, 19,000 onwards.

There is little doubt that major strength of most of these players of building by diversifying into varied segments is their core brand. In just a few months time, Christian Dior is also launching its cell phone range.

Fossil, US-based watch maker recently forayed into eyewear for both men and women as well into leather men accessories. "The Indian market is poised for explosive growth in the fashion segment, as young people have more disposable income, and their awareness of global fashion is growing. Moreover, both leather and eyewear are emerging as key fashion in-gredients and we believe there is substantial growth potential in these two categories." Nan-gia, country manager, Fossil India clarifies their thought of diversification into the accessory segment.

Omega is also planning to launch its Fine Leather Goods Collection soon in India. Some of the accessories like Wallets, key chain holders and messenger bags in Italian calfskin leather will be available for both men and women. This is an alternate way of building brand recall. Therefore, look now for your ‘brand wagon’ of accessories too!
