Samsung is recently rumoured to have added yet another handset to its Omnia series. The latest addition would be an Omnia Pro with a sliding QWERTY keyboard, like one that Nokia E75 sports - check out E75's review informed a SlashPhone birdie.
Still, it looks like reality that the next Omnia series phone is likely to be the Samsung l8000 aka Omnia2 (just like HTC Touch Pro2 and Diamond2). The existence of a certain Omnia2 becomes dicey from a Lithuanian online retailer who made the images and information of this Omnia phone public.
3.5-inch WVGA Screen, Samsung's TouchWiz interface, and a 5-megapixel camera was expected in the alleged Omnia Pro.
Samsung l8000 is expected to sport a 3.7-inch AMOLED (Active-matrix Organic Light-emitting Diode) touch screen, 8.1 megapixel camera, Windows Mobile OS (we doubt it's Windows Mobile 6.1) and the usual connectivity options including 3G. The view becomes incredibly superb with the Omnia2's 3.7-inch WVGA TFT resistive AMOLED screen and would love to see the images captured by the 8.1 megapixel camera with dual LED Flash. This device has a 8.1 megapixel camera and supports VGA@30mbps recording, carries 150MB internal memory with microSD slot for expansion and an unspecified Qualcomm CPU.
3G and Wi-Fi support along with the GPS option provides advanced web experience. Bluetooth is also offered by omnia2. Moreover, Samsung's TouchWiz interface over Windows Mobile OS would be heavily customized and also bring in DivX/XviD support is suggested by rumors.
On June 15th, it is expected that Samsung will make an announcement as the site Samsung Unpacked shows a countdown with teaser trailer about Samsung's upcoming phone's features.
The current Samsung launch would indeed unveil the Samsung l8000 which might be part of Samsung's Cubic project that includes Samsung S8000 Jet and Samsung M8000 phones is believed by GSMArena. It is either all about the cubical central button or the cubical interface - Note that Samsung Unpacked site also shows "Unpacked" written on cubical box. Waiting for 15th June to watch the phone Samsung has in their pocket.
