Fiat deferred launch of Bravo

In India, Fiat India has deferred the launch of its upcoming model, Fiat Bravo. The launch of Bravo was a part of the marketing strategy as Fiat wants to rebuild its brand in the country. Having a look at the current status, it has had deferred its decision to launch any high priced car.

This clearly shows that there is a lack of interest for car priced above Rs. 20 lakh. Mr Rajeev Kapoor, CEO, Fiat India Automobiles said, “We wanted to launch the Bravo but put it off because of poor market conditions. Anything above the C segment (mid-size cars in the Rs 7-10 lakh range) is not selling”.

Fiat Bravo will attract hundred percent duty as it will be imported as a completely built unit in India. Such high price cars will not be feasible by market. In Indian market Fiat has already marked its presence with its models like Fiat 500 Cinqcento and Fiat Linea. Rs. 13 lakh and above is the price of Fiat 500 which is a three door hatchback model due to the import duty it attracts in India.

Fiat is expected to launch Fiat Grand Punto on 17th of this month. Models in the same segment or the ones that would compete with each other or with the Tata Motors portfolio are not intended to be launched by Fiat.
