Chrysler brands probable to hit Indian roads through Fiat

Fiat, an Italian automaker has entered into a strategic alliance with Chrysler will probably bring the famed models of the American car maker into India

Last week Chrysler came out of the bankruptcy protection with the help of the alliance with Fiat. On questioning whether Fiat will bring Chrysler brands to India, Fiat Group Chief Operating Officer (International Operations) Filverio Bonfiglioli replied, "why not..."      

Filverio Bonfiglioli was talking to reporters today after the launch of Fiat's premium small car Grande Punto in both petrol and diesel variants in the Indian market. Moreover he did not give more details about bringing Chrysler into India.      

Avenger, Caliber, Challenger and Viper are the major car brands of Chrysler. 

Chrysler’s truck category includes well-known names from the stable include Dakota and Sprinter. 

In the mini vans category, Chrysler has significant presence with brands like Nitro, Durango and Grand Caravan.      

Fiat would have a 20 per cent equity stake in Chrysler in return for providing technology to manufacture smaller cars is a part of the strategic alliance. 

Fiat and Chrysler has together finalized a global strategic alliance to form a "new Chrysler that has the resources, technology and worldwide distribution network required to compete effectively on a global scale".           
After being tossed down by significant losses and plunging sales, Chrysler entered into bankruptcy in April. 

The chief of the new Chrysler will be Fiat’s Chief Executive Sergio Marchionne. 

Recently, Marchionne said about the new Chrysler, “Those Chrysler operations assumed by the new company that were idled during this process have or will soon be back up and running, and work is already underway on developing new environmentally friendly, fuel-efficient, high-quality vehicles that we intend to become Chrysler's hallmark going forward”.
