The biggest hit of 1980, Qurbani’s remake has just changed its makers. Previously, Qurbani, a block buster of Firoz Khan was supposed to be remade by Sanjay Gupta with Fardeen Khan and Saif Ali Khan as the protagonists, but now, changed hands and Sanjay Dutt has managed to acquire the rights of the movie

The new-age version of Qurbani will be produced by Sanjay Dutt Productions. Feroz Khan’s role will be played by his son Fardeen Khan. Surprisingly, Sanjay Dutt has chosen the gum-chewing cop’s role for himself, played by Amjad Khan instead of stepping in Vinod Khanna’s role as he finds it more challenging and stylish. As a director he has a long way to go yet, still Apoorva Lakhia, Soham Shah and Sanjay Gadhvi - his favorites, we hear, are top contenders.

Previously, the remake was almost announced as dead on the recent death of Feroz Khan, now it is revived. Feroz was enthused regarding the remake but fell sick seriously and after his death, Fardeen left to Goa for the ‘All The Best’ shoot with Sanjay Dutt. “That was when Dutt and Fardeen bonded and the matter of Qurbani remake cropped up. And since Dutt wanted nothing more than rescuing the project from Sanjay Gupta, he happily agreed to produce the remake,” a source reveals.

The Bengali spice, Bipasha Basu, who is also shooting with Sanjay and Fardeen in Goa, is the hottest contender and will play the role of sexy Zeenat Aman in the remake of Qurbani.
