Pop and rock star Michael Jackson passed away. Yes, Michael died yesterday.

On Thursday afternoon, the ‘King of Pop’ was taken to a hospital in Los Angeles due to a cardiac arrest. As per the reports, he was not breathing when emergency personnel arrived at his home.

CNN, ABC News, the Los Angeles Times and celebrity gossip website TMZ, and many more sources confirm that Jackson is dead. Hospital staff could not resuscitate the 50-year-old musician, says TMZ’s report.

The professional music career of Jackson was started at the age of 11 years as a member of The Jackson 5. Michael Jackson’s solo career took off in 1971 and became a legend in popular music in the early 1980s. His famous album Thriller was released in 1982. Thriller remains as the best-selling album of all time.

Michael Jackson’s popular singles "Beat It," "Billie Jean" and "Thriller" are given credit for converting the music video into a lucrative promotional tool. He capitalized on the advent of MTV.

Jackson was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice. He won 13 Grammy Awards, and also had 13 number one singles as a solo artist and sold over 750 million albums worldwide.

But, the Music King’s musical accomplishments were often overshadowed by his personal life. Much controversy was raised due to his changing appearance and eccentric behavior.

In the year 1933, Jackson was accused of child sexual abuse, but was left uncharged as the criminal investigation was closed due to lack of evidence. Again in 2005 he was accused of child sexual abuse but was tried and acquitted.

Michael Jackson got married twice and became a father of three children, in each case taking on more controversy.

The famous pop singer struggled hard reportedly with his finances and his health deteriorated from the early 1990s until his death.
