Skoda Yeti SUV to hit Indian roads at 2010 Auto Expo

Skoda Yeti SUV that is already launched for the first time and released at the assembly line from its mother plant in Kvasiny in the Czech Republic is now going to hit the Indian roads soon.

The SUV will be displayed at the country’s biggest occasion for car enthusiasts and manufacturers - the 2010 Delhi Auto Expo, says the sources that wants to hide their identity. The first production of the SUV is a 4WD model fitted with a 1.8-litre TSI petrol engine, its engine capacity likely to be tweaked to cope up with the domestic customers needs.

The price of Skoda Yeti SUV is estimated to be around Rs 10 lakh and is likely to be imported from its parent plant in Kvasiny in the Czech Republic and assembled in India at Skoda India’s Aurangabad plant at Maharashtra with its CKD kits. 

The Yeti SUV’s all models have engines fitted with turbochargers for greater responsiveness. The compact SUV offers an exceptionally good on-road as well as off-road drivability with the 180 mm of clear height of a wider tyre tread. The Yeti taking in concern with the environmental and economic aspects of the SUV class provides good response with low fuel consumption and CO2 emission values.  

Based on the ‘Simply Clever’ solutions, such as the VarioFlex rear seat system known from the Roomster Yeti proves to be a compact (wheel base 2,578 mm), progressive and smart SUV. The length of the Yeti is 4,223 mm, width 1,793 mm, and height 1,691 mm which helps it to easily enlarge the luggage compartment to as much as 1,760 litres. 

Even though no official confirmation is provided as of now, but it is said that the Skoda Yeti which was shown at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show is set to arrive in Indian showrooms in early 2010.
