'NEW YORK' the Yash Raj Film earns Rs 350 M in 3days

'New York' the Yash Raj’s latest hit is released worldwide last Friday (June 26) in theatres has already collected Rs 350 million in its three-day first weekend. Yash Raj Films press note depicts that the movie has broken all the past opening weekend collection records for the year 2009.

In 2008 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi' from Yash Raj Films had also collected the highest revenue film their opening weekend. 'New York' has incidentally opened at the third slot on the Australian charts and in the UK in this weekend at the tenth spot. The press note also says, “The movie has also been the top weekend earner in the UAE for 2009. 

This reveals that the summer in the film industry is gone and thus showers of spring bring the sweet smell in as the new era has begun. Giving further relief to the Hindi movie lovers, another long awaited movie starring Akshay Kumar opposite queen B of Bollywood Kareena Kapoor titled 'Kambakkht Ishq' will release on next Friday (July 3).

This upcoming movie is more likely to break the records and exceed its gross revenue of the 'New York' that opened the previous Friday (June 27). During the past three months after the standoff between big producers and multiplex owners over revenue sharing and costing a huge loss of over Rs 300 crore, to cheer up the audience as well as the cinema employees who had witnessed the empty halls,, now the coming Fridays will bring in more and more exciting movies which are likely to be super hit likes of Imtiaz Ali's 'Love Aaj Kal', Neeraj Vora's 'Shortkut - The Con is On and 'Kaminey'.
