Porsche, a German Car manufacturer, will roll out its hybrid variants of its popular luxury model Cayenne next year in India.

In addition to the other sports car makers like Ferrari and Lamborghini, Porsche is endorsing the eco-friendly models of its cars. Ferrari and Lamborghini is also not left behind in the race, they too have announced that they will also be launching the hybrid car models in the market.

Already the planning is started to implement by Porsche on its SUV model Cayenne to bring its hybrid variant in the market. By 2010, the new models are expected to hit Indian market. Later, the company will bring its eco-friendly model of its luxury sedan Panamera.

A new engine that provides a fuel economy of 11 km/l is planned to be developed on the Cayenne by the company. Compared to the current fuel efficiency of 6 km/l in city and 8.9 km/l on the highway, this is 25 percent advancement.

Currently, Porsche Cayenne has five main variants available in India includes GTS and Turbo variants. Completely-built-unit models are imported and arrive with a heavy price of Rs. 56 lakhs.

In India, still the hybrid market is in developing stage as Indian customers have ready options of CNG and LP models from nearly all luxury car makers. Thus, it seems that Porsche will have to plan much better marketing strategy to sell the hybrid variants in India.
