Mobile numbers are running out, new nos. will start from 8!

All of us are aware that the mobile market in India is booming with great sales and with this increased mobile selling Department of Telecommunication is running out of the mobile numbers starting with 9. Therefore, they are planning to allot the new mobile numbers starting with 8.  

Before few months Dot was even talking about considering an 11 digit numbering system. In the year 2003 the Dot had declared a 30 year numbering plan but due to such a fast growth in the telecom subscriber base, they have to rethink over the policy and thus are considering 11-digit numbering system. 

Report says that DoT will allocate nearly 10 crore numbers for this out of which 50% will be kept reserve by DoT themselves. 

The TRAI survey says that there are 415 million cellular subscribers, compared to 277 million during the same period last year. 

There are great chances for a rush for the so-called VIP numbers for which many people are ready to pay a handsome amount and service provider’s cash on it.
