Honda Motor Co., Ltd. announced a summary of automobile production, Japan domestic sales, and export results for the month of June and the first six months of 2009 including an all-time record for auto production in China for the first half of the calendar year.

Production - June 2009
Production in Japan for the month of June 2009 experienced a year-on-year decrease for the eighth consecutive month (since November 2008).

Production in regions outside of Japan experienced a year-on-year decrease for the ninth consecutive month (since October 2008).

Worldwide production also experienced a year-on-year decrease for the eighth consecutive month (since November 2008).

The First Half of Calendar Year 2009 (January - June)
Production in Japan for the first six months of 2009 experienced a year-on-year decrease for the second consecutive year (since the first six months of 2008).

Production in regions outside of Japan for the first six months of 2009 experienced a year-on-year decrease for the first time in 13 years (since the first six months of 1996), though production in China achieved an all-time record for the first six months of 2009.

Worldwide production for the first six months of 2009 experienced a year-on-year decrease for the first time in 11 years (since the first six months of 1998)

Japan Domestic Market Sales - June 2009
Total Japan domestic market auto sales for the month of June 2009 experienced a year-on-year decrease for the second consecutive month (since May 2009).

New vehicle registrations experienced a year-on-year increase for the third consecutive month (since April 2009).

Sales of mini-vehicles experienced a year-on-year decrease for the seventh consecutive month (since December 2008).

• Vehicle registrations - excluding mini-vehicles
Fit was the industry's second best-selling car among new vehicle registrations for the month of June 2009 with sales of 13,016 units. Insight was the industry's fourth best selling car with sales of 8,782 units. Freed was the industry's seventh best selling car with sales of 6,495 units.

• Mini-vehicles - under 660cc
Life was the industry's sixth best-selling car in the mini-vehicle category for the month of June 2009, with sales of 6,412 units.

The First Half of Calendar Year 2009 (January - June)
Total Japan domestic auto sales for the first six months of 2009 experienced a year-on-year decrease for the first time in two years (since the first six months of 2007).

New vehicle registrations in the first six months of 2009 experienced a year-on-year decrease for the first time in two years (since the first six months of 2007).

Sales of mini-vehicles in the first six months of 2009 experienced a year-on-year decrease for the third consecutive year (since the first six months of 2007).

• Vehicle registrations - excluding mini-vehicles
Fit was the industry's best-selling car among new vehicle registrations for the first six months of 2009, for the second consecutive year (since the first six months of 2008) with sales of 65,589 units. Insight was the industry's sixth best-selling car with sales of 36,457 units. Freed was the industry's eighth best-selling car with sales of 32,244 units.

• Mini vehicles - under 660cc
Life was the industry's fifth best-selling car in the mini-vehicle category for the first six months of 2008, with sales of 44,633 units. Zest was the industry's ninth best-selling car with sales of 21,220 units.

Exports from Japan - June 2009
Total exports from Japan in June 2009 experienced a year-on-year decrease for the ninth consecutive month (since October 2008).

The First Half of Calendar Year 2009 (January - June ) Total exports from Japan for the first six months of 2009 experienced a year-on-year decrease for the second consecutive year (since the first six months of 2008).
