It is said that daydreams are a window into the soul. They can also be therapeutic, as Ava Ballantyne discovers in the new novel, "The Code of Destiny" (published by iUniverse) by Sara Enochs.

Ava Ballantyne is a classic "type A" personality. She is the sort of person who has a plan for everything. Delivering her child is no different. Ava spends months preparing for the arrival of her baby. She sets up the nursery, chooses the cutest baby outfits and even picks out a name. However, as she quickly discovers, child birth holds to no timetable or plan. The delay in the delivery of Ava's son is only the first in a long line of adjustments and obstacles she will face on her journey through parenthood.

Ava was sure that parenthood would come as naturally to her as everything else she does. Thus, she is unequipped to deal with the realities of three o'clock feedings and postpartum depression. As the weeks pass, she becomes increasingly unsure of herself and her ability to be a parent. Ava's own mother suggests that she, Ava and new born Eli go on a road trip to see Ava's cousin graduate from college.

As "The Code of Destiny" unfolds, readers begin to gain insight into how Ava developed her unique personality quirks. The death of Ava's brother when she was 18 has weighed heavily on her in the intervening years. The loss has driven her to pursue multiple jobs and careers in a crusade to end suffering and death, among other things. Through her dreams and her daydreams, readers see Ava work through her personal demons and begin to find closure.

"Okay," Ava responded with pure excitement. For the first time she had a smile that she couldn't contain. It was a devilish, sly little smile.

"Here are my goals. Goal number one is to cure all disease, and goal number two is to help my dad build the Solar Hydrogen Economy." She laughed nervously. In her mind she could see her father's notes on hydrogen. He always capitalized the phrase Solar Hydrogen Economy, so she did too to emphasize its importance. "Why are you laughing?" Olivia asked, shaking her head with disapproval. "You have to believe with all of your heart, or your dreams will never come true."

Sara Enochs graduated from Arizona State University earning two degrees, majoring in Biology and Spanish. She continued her graduate studies at the University of California, Berkeley studying Molecular Biology. She continued her work at Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary while working at The Center for Theology and Natural Sciences. Enochs currently lives in Phoenix with her husband, Charlie, and their four children. "The Code of Destiny" is the first book in the CODE Trilogy.
