Sony PS3 prices are cut down

Previously, there were rumors but now it is true that Sony has cut down the PS3 prices as well as there is confirmation of a trimmer, slimmer iteration of the PS3. The PS3 looks slimmer just like a diet-PS3 and fully featured and is priced for $100 less. Thus the new PS3 is 33 percent smaller, 36 percent lighter, roughly as tall, but thinner, with a matte finish all around.

Atindriya Bose, head of Sony PlayStation India says, "We stand committed to develop gaming as a coveted interactive entertainment avenue for the Indians. The high adoption of Playstation by the Indian consumers will be further fuelled by the new prices and offerings before the Indian festive seasons. The new sub - 20K price on PS3 not only positions it as an attractive gaming console but makes it perhaps the best value for money Blu-Ray entertainment device for the family. "

Certainly it is very attractive, that much thinner to the guy who had to lug two Xbox 360s and PS3s and a Wii overseas in carry-on luggage. The fact to be remembered is that original PS3 is just about the ugliest-angled console to come along in decades.

PS3 80 GB is currently sold at $300 in the U.S. (Rs. 26,000 in India), though a few retailers slashed prices in recent days and fueled speculation a price drop was imminent. We still are not clear about the replacement of the original PS3 but apart from looks the price of the PS3 just dropped across the board, meaning that as of tomorrow, you can buy an existing PS3 anywhere in the US for $300 (or for Rs. 20,000 in India with two free games- Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and GTS Prologue).
