Ford small car to hit the Indian roads in 2010

As per the recent reports, Ford, an US automaker will roll out its new small car during the first half of 2010 and was planning to start exporting the small cars by the end of 2010.

The small car going to be launched will be in sub-B segment and would be such that it meets the statutory requirements of having an engine capacity of 1.2 litre petrol engine and 1.5 litre diesel engine, says reports.

Michael Boneham, President as well as Managing Director of Ford India revealed to the reporters at Annual Siam Convention, “Our planned small car will be launched in India in by early 2010. We also plan to export it to markets in Asia Pacific and Africa by the end of next year”.

Ford India is exploring the international market for the new car. Boneham, though denied giving the details about the number of units planned to hit the road. Moreover, as we already have given you the news that the company is also launching a new advanced version of its SUV Endeavour within coming two weeks.

Ford India is planning to start exporting diesel and petrol engines from its Chennai plant by early 2010 and is extensively looking into maintaining its sales record as per last year to 30,000 units.
