LG Electronics, a South Korean company is going to launch a 15” (15 inch) television set using organic display technology this September, making this festival season more joyous.
Of course the prices are not going to be cheap for this deadly device, as Sony’s 11-inch OLED TV costs $2500. The AM-OLED active-matrix organic light-emitting diode uses self-glowing materials that have better picture quality and are both more energy efficient and thinner, largely because they don't require backlights. The largest commercial model so far will be revealed at the IFA 2009.
The world's first OLED TV was launched by Sony in 2007 and was priced as $2500, just imagine as it is panning to launch a new OLED display for 40-inches, how much this would cost? Imagination itself broke your dreams.
There will be a time when like any other TV OLED TV will be a normal device in every home, expected this to be seen by 2013 as per reports.
