Ford India is planning to launch the new cars with the Eco-Boost engine technology that saves fuel by raising the fuel mileage by atleast 20% and also lessens the emission of Carbon Dioxide gas (CO2 gas) by 15% compared to its conventional petrol or diesel engines.

The Eco-Boost engine uses gasoline turbocharged direct-injection technology. In future this would help Ford to meet the future emission norms. This technology is not any new discovery though as it has been already  launched by the US-based parent, in its compact cars and large trucks sold in the American market.

The President and MD of Ford India, Michael Boneham told that “Initially we will go for the regular technology to develop 1.2 litre petrol and 1.5 litre diesel engine to benefit from government’s policy of lower excise on such engine sizes and introduce much-expensive Eco-boost engines in the long-term."

Ford is also planning to grow its business on a large scale as it is also planning to export its cars to other growing market like China, Eastern Europe and South America. Right now, the company is also planning to double the capacity of its plant in Chennai as part of its $500 million fresh investment in India.

Ford is also looking at going highly local for the engines in order to save revenue and to get better prices for its cars.
