Samsung’s 15 new digital cameras launched this Friday. Samsung is expecting high sales on this festive season start and this is a part of its new marketing strategy to increase its market-share in the fast-growing camera market in India.

The new line up of digital still cameras comprises of 8 models including the flagship Samsung WB500. The world’s first ‘2 view’ camera technology with dual LCD screens, one on the front and the other on the back is seen on the two new models priced at Rs. 22,990 and Rs. 20,990.

The 10.2 mega-pixel WB500 offers an ultra-wide 24mm Schneider lens with 10x optical zoom, a host of manual controls, including the ability to adjust shutter speed, aperture, exposure, and focus. The camera also incorporates both Optical and Digital Image Stabilization to help reduce image blur. to capture video in 720p high-definition at 30 frames-per-second (fps), and with H.264 compression, with additional memory card and many more features. 

Samsung also bought three high-performance cameras priced between Rs. 17,990 and Rs. 29,000, while its basic digital models start at Rs. 7,990.

“The new range of cameras will reinforce our position as a leading innovator in the digital camera market and set a new benchmark for digital camera technology. We are eyeing good sales this festive season and to attract more customers, we are offering some goodies with each camera,” said the Deputy Managing Director, R. Zutshi of Samsung India Electronics at a press conference.

The company is likely to touch a turnover of over two billion dollars in the current fiscal year as it expects robust sales during the upcoming festival season. "We sold around one lakh units last year. We are expecting a 45 per cent growth (rate) by volume last year. It is big emerging business for us," he said.

The company is targeting to be among the top three companies providing digital cameras.
