The trend of being Indian is high after the Gandhian age of Khadi and ‘made in India’ now we have all products ‘made in India’. We do have craze for imported but yes Indian is Indian and it comes naturally, be it in festivals, occasions or any other traditional way.

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd is working on a new small car (YP8) which will be completely made in India and will be homogenously designed and manufactured in India at company’s Gurgaon plant. Like the famous song, my desi girl, my desi girl, now the company says, my desi car, my desi car…

The new desi car is expected be revealed at Delhi Auto Expo 2010 to be held in January of the coming year. Maruti has already talked to its existing manufacturers for their inputs on the design and engine of the new model. The car is likely to be fitted with latest 1.2 K-series engine and could be built on Ritz's platform.

And but obvious, it will make the car very cheap as MSIL will not have to pay royalty cost to Suzuki anymore and also not to pay any duty. Moreover, it will also save on introducing any new platforms which ask for a lot of expenditure.

This desi car will be designed and manufactured keeping in mind only the Indian road conditions and customer needs.

Maruti is already the leader in India in small car business and this will help to make the company global leader from small car and India will be its best manufacturing hub.

This step proves the car makers also think the Indian way. Proud to be an Indian (Desi)!
