Samsung, the South Korean electronics manufacturing company is now on the verge of making its all home appliances at its Sriperumbudur plant near Chennai from 2010. The company already has its existing plant at Noida, Uttar Pradesh. 
The Noida facility is saturated with optimum capacity and thus the company has decided to carry out all future expansions at Sriperumbudur with high demand in the market.
Speaking to reporters at the Sriperumbudur facility, Ruchika Batra, spokesperson, Samsung India Electronics said that, “As committed earlier, we would invest $100 million in our Chennai plant by 2012 to make it one of the largest manufacturing plants”.
At present, the Sriperumbudur facility produces LCD televisions, colour monitors, CTVs and front loading washing machines. The company is also planning to export some of the appliances made here.
The company is all set to increase its production as well as sales. It is expecting to close the current year with a turnover of $2 billion compared with $1.7 billion last year.
According to Asim Warsi, general manager - marketing, Samsung India Electronics, said the touch screen mobile market was expected to double to 1.6 million units this year. Even the company is planning to double the export orders as well.
