This Monday, US bike maker, Harley-Davidson (HD) announced that they will start the selection process for dealerships, seeking interested parties from New Delhi and some more cities in addition to those planned earlier.
The company said it is exploring options to consider applications for dealerships from any location in India based on “business sense”. In this reference, HD has also planned for dealership camps in New Delhi on November 1st and 2nd 2009 which will give the interested applicants an opportunity to meet with Harley-Davidson’s representatives to guide the applicants through the requirements for opening Harley-Davidson dealerships in their region.
The deadline for dealership applications has been extended to November 2, 2009, the company said.
Harley-Davidson had announced plans to enter the Indian market by 2010 with at least 15 of its models. All its bikes in India would be imported from the US facilities as completely built units (CBU)
The Harley-Davidson bikes will have a starting price of approximately 3.5 lakh rupees. But before the bikes enter the country, the company is planning its dealership on priority basis in cities like Punjab, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai and New Delhi and even later on all other cities in India.
