Audi, German luxury car maker said on Sunday that it is targeting over 50 percent growth in sales in this year and next year in India. Audi India is planning to assemble more models in the country as part of its strategy to achieve this target. 
In addition to this, the company is also planning to launch one new model in the country next year, besides brining in advanced version of an existing model.
Audi India Head (Marketing) Martin Birkner said that, “Our target is to grow by over 50 percent both in this year and 2010. In 2008, we sold around 1,050 units in India and this year our target is to sell 1,600 units and then continue the momentum next year”.
Audi India already has around seven models on sale in India. Only two of these are being assembled locally i.e. the entry level luxury sedan A4 and the volume model A6. Audi is also planning to assemble more models in India from next year. The company is planning to shift the assemble operation of at least one or two more models to India in 2010.
Audi India is also looking forward to expand its dealership network and venture into new cities except it’s already made 12 dealerships. Kolkata, Coimbatore and Nagpur are on priority basis.
