Sony’s slimmest Sony VAIO X ultraportable laptop released. Touted as the world's slimmest and lightest ultraportable laptop, VAIO X weighs merely 655gms and is about half an inch thin. 
As it was speculated, the Vaio X-series will be powered by one of Intel's Atom processors, which means performance won't be that high when compared to other notebooks on the market. It comes clad in lightly brushed aluminum panel covers isolation keyboard and the palm-rest area.
The device comes with pre-loaded with Windows 7 Professional (32-bit). Sony VIAO X Series ultraportable laptop is expected to be available in stores in North America sometime next month, providing users with yet another high-end ultraportable laptop.
Two different models of VIAO X Series will be available. They are VPCX113KG priced for Rs. 64,990 and VPCX117LG priced for Rs. 84,990 and both will have one year international warranty.
Sony had also revealed the VAIO X in IFA 2009 Expo at Berlin and Germany in September. But still no details or specifications about the processor packed inside this ultra-slim laptop is revealed. But now it is not the case as Sony has provided with details like VPCX113KG model weighs 655 gms with 3.5 hours battery life and 14 Hrs Optional LL battery. It also adds up with 64 GB SSD. It supports Intel Atom Processor Z540 (1.86 GHz, HT Technology supported).
On the other hand, the VPC117LG model includes 2GHz Intel Atom Z550 processor. Yes, it is 2GHz Atom chip for ultraportable. And lot more is packed with this series.
Moreover, on Tuesday, a top official of Sony said, Sony India is planning to capture a fifth of the country's consumer notebook market by the end of fiscal 2010.
And plan to do this by introducing unique products with cutting edge technology, expanding our distribution channels across the country and investing more in marketing.
