Tata Motors had made record breaking sales with its rocking small and cheapest car in the world “NANO”. All the car makers were since than in a thought of how do you build small, cheap cars profitably? Nissan has made a way out of all and has announced on October 30 that it will launch a new small car in Thailand, India and China in March 2010 in competition with Tata Nano. It will also be sold in Europe and the US in 2011, then on to nearly 150 countries.
The first new car launched by Nissan specifically aimed at these emerging markets will be called the V -- for versatility -- and Nissan expects a staggering one million sales by 2013.
According to drive.com.au, the car will have 18-percent fewer parts than current Nissan compacts. To bring down costs further, as many components as possible will be sourced from local areas. This new cheapest Nissan car will have a three-cylinder diesel or petrol engine, a 41-litre fuel tank and highly-engineered plastic in place of more expensive and heavier steel and aluminium.
The price is still a hidden treasure, though it’ll compete with World’s cheapest car Tata Nano as well as with the upcoming Ford Fiesta "world car" expected to be unveiled with similarly ambitious designs at the Los Angeles auto show in December.
