Less than three months since opening, the SAIC-GM Pavilion at World Expo 2010 Shanghai welcomed its 1 millionth visitor on Monday. Ban Chunfeng and his girlfriend Zhang Yue from Nanjing City of Jiang Su province entered the pavilion about 3 p.m. Ban received a set of car models of the YeZ and EN-V concept vehicles on display at the pavilion as a gift. He and his girlfriend also were given a ride in the EN-V and YeZ respectively.

The SAIC-GM Pavilion officially welcomed its first visitor on May 1. It has been among the most popular corporate pavilions at Expo 2010, which runs through October 31. With the theme of “Drive to 2030,” it is presenting an idealistic vision of urban transportation in 2030 that is free from emissions, accidents, petroleum and congestion. The SAIC-GM Pavilion is also highlighting the prospect of sustainable mobility, which will be made possible by electrification, connectivity and autonomous driving.

“The concept car is amazing!” Ban said. “In our daily life we are seeing growing traffic problems like traffic jams and parking shortages. It would be great if we really could have the automobiles and the urban lifestyle shown at the pavilion.”

Jin Qi, Director of the SAIC-GM Pavilion, said: “We hope urban mobility in 2030 will really be like our vision portrayed in the movie at the pavilion and that the concept cars on display will become daily transportation tools for ordinary families. As Mr. Ban found out by riding in the EN-V, we are getting close to realizing our dream for 2030.”

The SAIC-GM Pavilion is one of three pavilions that take advance reservations. Visitors can log on to the official pavilion website (www.our2030.com) to book a convenient time to visit. This enables visitors to avoid waiting in line. For those who do wait in line, the SAIC-GM Pavilion has installed awnings, electric fans and seating areas to keep them comfortable during the hot summer months.
