Canon rolls out special consumer offers for upcoming festival season

Canon has announced the roll out of special consumer offers as well as price drops for its camera range to capitalize the spike during the upcoming festival buying in India. The festive journey begins with Onam, the biggest festival of South India with a special thrust in increasing and strengthening the distribution network and offering a wide range of camera products.  The festival of Onam will set the ball rolling for Canon’s plans during the second half of the year. Canon India has successfully closed its first six months (January – June 2010) performance with an impressive growth of 56 per cent.

Canon has also announced an exciting consumer offer, ‘Reebok Crest’ that entails customers for a free watch worth Rs. 2499 with the purchase of its IXUS, SX series, Digital video camcorders and Digital SLR product range. Canon has already expanded its penetration to over 200 towns with more than 1500 partner strength across the country. During the current year, Canon has put  extra thrust in its state of art lifestyle range of Digital cameras under the ‘IXUS’ brand. This category grew by 175% in the first half of the year. Canon is also focusing on the “gifting space” in B2B opportunities.

Canon celebrates the festivity with the launch of Canon’s IXUS 300HS camera, an ultra-compact camera. This technology rich camera features the new 'HS' system that promises better low-light performance and high-speed photography through a combination of a 10MP back-illuminated CMOS sensor and DIGIC 4 processor. It sports a 28-105mm equivalent f/2.0-5.3 stabilized zoom lens (offering the same range as the S90 but for a smaller sensor), 3 inch LCD and P/A/S/M shooting modes. The camera also features a Super Slow Motion movie mode that records 340x240 movies at 240fps, as well as 720p HD movies capture.

On this festive occasion, Mr. Alok Bharadwaj, Senior Vice President, Canon India said, “Digital photography industry in on a solid surge in India. Our range of 13 digital cameras, eight digital camcorders and eight Digital SLR’s offer state of art technology and in this festival season we hope to maintain over 60% growth in this cameras category. Canon has as always been in the forefront in creating innovative best-in-industry programs and initiatives for customers as well as channel partners. Taking this approach forward, Canon India takes pride in introducing special programs for photography enthusiasts this festive season. Canon also launched an exclusive television commercial in Malayalam “My Onam My Style”.  The TVC, launched today, is for the IXUS range of cameras. The stylish and creatively rich commercial is focused on youngsters as this range is designed for the fashion-forward customers and those who appreciate beautiful form and high functionality in a compact camera.

Canon’s growth last year was over 60% during the Onam season. Canon plans to further tap customers in the Southern region.  The festive promotional offer is a clear indication of the company’s plans to expand in the state and be an intricate of celebrations for each household.
