Hyundai India receives EEPC All India Award for Export Excellence

Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (HMIL), the largest passenger car exporter and second largest car manufacturer in India, has been conferred the 'All India Award for Export Excellence 2008-09' by the Engineering Export Promotion Council (EEPC). HMIL was awarded the Gold Trophy – in the Large Enterprise category.

The Hon’ble Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Shri Anand Sharma bestowed the award to HMIL, at a function organized recently in Bangalore.

Receiving the award, Mr Arvind Saxena Director - Marketing & Sales, HMIL said, “We are delighted to receive this award for the fourth consecutive year. For the past few years, EEPC has been recognising our accomplishments and awarding us for excellence in exports. This award is a testimonial to our relentless hard work and commitment in ensuring ‘Made in India’ cars are driven in all corners of the world.”

As Hyundai Motor Corporation’s global export hub for compact cars, HMIL is the first automotive company in India to achieve the export of 10 lakh cars in just over a decade. HMIL currently exports cars to more than 110 countries across EU, Africa, Middle East, Latin America, Asia and Australia. It has been the number one exporter of passenger car of the country for the sixth year in a row.

HMIL accounts 45% of its total production to exports from India. HMIL started exporting with a batch of 20 cars to neighbouring Nepal in the year 1999 and in less than a period of ten years it has increased its export market to span over 110 countries across continents. HMIL, currently exports the Santro, i10, i20 and the Accent.
