Widex, the Denmark-based leading digital hearing aid manufacturer, which has manufactured digital hearing aid for new-born babies, consider hearing problems in new-born child could be addressed if diagnosed at early stages.

It is necessary for the parents to carry out an acoustics test so a child’s hearing condition could be determined as with 1 in every 1,000 child born with hearing impairment.

Widex has introduced Widex Baby 440 product, which could offer hearing solution to new-born babies. As believed by Shakeel H. Rizvi, G M, Marketing Communications, Widex India, a fully-owned subsidiary of Widex.

Rizvi said Widex Senso Hearing Centres offers facilities to parents for assisting them to carry out unique Otto Acoustics Emission Test (OAIT) to ascertain if child is born with any hearing problem. In case the child has some problem, he could be put on hearing-aid device with right amplification so the listening part could be addressed.

Widex India is marketing its hearing aids through dealers in all the major cities of the country as well as its own diagnostic and dispensing centre — Senso Hearing Centres. Widex India has 31 company-owned centers and plans to add couple more in 2011. In the last financial year Widex India did a business of Rs 30 crore and anticipates business to reach Rs 32-34 crore in the current year.
