Amar Ujala- the leading Hindi daily in North India is set to take a major leap in New Year. It will enter territories of Haryana with two new editions of Rohtak. Additionally, the newspaper will also launch a Noida edition that will focus on local content pertaining to towns such as Palwal, Mewal, Faridabad and Gurgaon.
According to sources, the Noida edition will be launched in the starting months of the year. The cover price of both the edition has not been revealed. At present, Amar Ujala enjoys the number four position in terms of readership with a total readership of 2.97 crores. Besides, the group has also decided to foray in the magazine vertical. The initiative will be on the lines of its other competitors namely Dainik Bhaskar and Hindustan. Amar Ujala will launch three Hindi magazines by next year.
Speaking on the initiative, Sunil Mutreja (President, Amar Ujala Publications) told that these three magazines will try and create awareness about various things in the Hindi speaking population of the country. As per a report of afaqs.com, Amar Ujala will bring its first monthly magazine on the lines of CSR (Competition Success Review) in January 2011 which will carry 200 pages. The second magazine will be based on current affairs and literature
Amar Ujala is looking at an initial print run of around 4 lakh copies for this yet-to-be-named title. The cover price of Rs 5 and a large distribution plan makes Amar Ujala a great product to compete with Saras Salil- the No. 2 magazine of the country. This magazine will be a fortnightly comprising 32 pages on an average. The first edition will hit the stand by the end of January. There is a third magazine which will be women centric and the group is working on the title.
Having debuted into book publishing space earlier this year, Amar Ujala is raring to go and hopes the year ahead will be fruitful.
