Mahindra Two Wheelers, a part of the US $7.1 billion Mahindra Group, further consolidated its presence in the two wheeler segment in December 2010. The company's sales for the month of December 2010 stood at 14.971 units, as against 8,199 units in December 2009, an increase of 83%.
Total cumulative sales from April to December 2010 stood at 122,859 units, as compared to 37,977 units for the same period last year, an increase of 224%. The Oct- Dec quarter sale on scooters stood at 47,403 units which is more than twice of what was achieved in the previous year same quarter. This quarter also saw the launch of Mahindra Stallio and the volume stood at 4626 units.
The Mahindra Stallio Great Indian Ride, where 20 bikers successfully rode the Stallio for 38 days over 1,35,000 km across the length and breadth of India converged recently at Nagpur. Four teams of 5 bikers each astride the Stallio started from the four corners of India, culminating at Nagpur which is the centre of India. This proves that here is one more reliable vehicle from the Mahindra stable.
Mahindra 2 Wheelers' Power Scooters cater to a range of consumer segments. The Mahindra Rodeo with its very innovative, contemporary features is popular amongst the Indian youth, while the Mahindra Duro is positioned as a family scooter.
