Mumbai, Maharashtra - Tommy Hilfiger, the premium international fashion brand who launched their exclusive Childrenswear line in India last year, unveils its all new Spring Summer Childrenswear collection this month.
After the fabulous response to its childrenswear collection last season, Tommy Hilfiger is all set to welcome the summer with an exuberant palette of fresh tropical colors.
For its Spring/Summer 2011 collections, Tommy Hilfiger apparel returns to the roots of iconic American preppy style, re-mastering it with a forward-looking twist. Inspired by America’s elite Ivy League universities as well as the holiday state Hawaii, this summer delivery offers a lively palette and is tinged with a vintage edge, Fresh tropical colors – ranging from pinks and yellows to blues, turquoise and green – are softened and combined with cooler essentials, including navy, olive & fresh white.
The Spring Summer 2011 collection is spread across three fashion groups:
Little League - Inspired by the Ivy League, in particular the celebrated rowing races between Harvard and Yale and the accompanying carnival atmosphere, this is the first fashion group of the new collection. Preppy girls wear pretty floral dresses with cute ruffles, embroidery and lace details, which add a touch of femininity. Sporty boys wear sweatshirts and track pants, combined with styled polos, blazers and preppy striped shirts. The look is topped off with fine detail such as tie stripe trims and inserts. The neutral palette focuses on a mix of nautical blues with fresh, clean white, grey heather and stone colors. Pops of brighter accent colors – orange for boys, pink for girls – add contrast. Grey heather at the base adds a sporty touch. Classic nautical blue stripes are key for both boys and girls, while items for boys also feature blue shirt stripes. Patchwork is washed and over-dyed for shorts, creating the ultimate preppy cool look. Multi-color flower patterns bring colors and tones together in items for girls: the juxtaposition of stripes, patchwork and florals create a cool, thrown-together look and an effortlessly preppy attitude. Little league single letters, numbers, badges and team logos evoke the spirit of vintage varsity, while metallic highlights, foil placement prints, engineered stripes in knits and other sporty details finish the style.
American Prep - The second fashion group, American Prep, emulates the scene of a sunny Spring day at Cornell University. It’s all about classic styles worn with a fashionable new twist. The look is comprised of iconic Ivy League essentials, including chinos, club blazers, shirts, and a selection of pick ‘n’ mix checks and stripes. Key Tommy Hilfiger heritage colors – red, white and blue – are important here, but they are given a twist and refreshed with hits of preppy pop color, including green, pink, yellow and bright blue. In addition, boys wear strong blue and grass green, combined with bright yellow, while the girls wear sophisticated girly green contrasts with a strong blue and a softer yellow. A large range of new checks, stripes and patterns add a welcome element of fun and surprise. Graphics possess a vintage varsity feel – campus artwork, badges, tie fabric and Ithaca stripes – complete the look.
Hawaii Hula - The final fashion group – Hawaii Hula – takes inspiration from the most beautiful and paradisiacal of American states - Hawaii. With a fun selection of must-haves and on-trend items, Hawaii is the key theme of the range. The state conjures up images of idyllic holidays, big waves, sunsets and palm trees. Individual pieces draw heavily from the state’s iconography: including exotic flowers and an enlarged chest print of a hula girl. Retro Hawaiian shorts and a collection of cool vintage labels are key to the chilled-out Hawaiian vibe and aesthetic. For boys, the look is casual beach: washed Hawaiian shirts are a wardrobe staple; printed board shorts feature cargo details, retro piping and binding; colorful t-shirts and vests are unbleached. A more feminine look is offered for girls, with vintage tropical patterns such as exotic florals on voile dresses.
